Any idea about what is holding BHK back? Their hedges should be worked off by Jan. 2003, would have expected some movement in the stock by now....

Hello all,

This is one excellent thread!

Thanks to Russ and many others(too long to list) for sharing their great mining ideas and stock picks.I've just backtracked thru the history to get a feel of the mindset of people that post in here.Wow!,what have I been doing over at stockhouse this past year.I've picked up many tips along the way,and yes, have had some free time to kill(LOL!).Its been a slow year in the patch in western Canada. This seems to be where all the mining minds gather to openly discuss their thoughts, so this thanks should be carried over to other threads as well such as the Strictly Drilling II,Silver prices,Le Coin des prospecteurs(need to brushen up on my french...lol),and a few others besides the individual stock threads.

I've missed out on the *easy* money in this early stage gold bull market for I was tied up heavily in Starfield(SRU) for the past year.I lost my shirt and have nobody to blame but myself.I guess being stubborn and not listening to subtle hints along the way didn't help any.SRU may have something but it might take a long time to be anything economical.

Moving on.....I have a number of subscriptions to help me understand the markets and feel they have been worthwhile.Others that were a waste of money,I've cancelled.I'm a novice in this volatile game of mining juniors and need all the help I can get.I'd like to thank Claude(Ormetal Report) for his hard work and careful analysis. Its great to see you posting here on a permanent basis and sharing your thoughts.

Between Claude,Jim Steel,Lawrence Rouslton, and others, the triangulation effect of narrowing ones choices of mining stocks to invest in is a simpler process.I appreciate being able to ride the coat tails of many knowledgeable ones in here as well.I will try to add my insights where I can. This thread is another DD place to come and is worth throwing in the toolbox for years to come.

My core stocks for now are Cumberland & Western Silver<g>.I think CBD is well on their way and will do very well with higher gold prices.WTC has been one helluva story and I'm still kicking myself for not getting in when Jim Steel initially wrote them up @ $0.65.Errrr!

Others I have for long term holds are Wheaton River,Alamos, and Chesapeake.WRM,now an intermediate producer of gold/silver, with many other exploration properties, will garner strength as time goes on.John Embry seems to like them as well.AAS,with the coming merge with NGT early in 2003,has great management(Chestar Millar) and reserves in the ground. Thanks to Russ, marcos, jackjc, plus others for their vote of confidence in them.CKG,should I say any more, looks like another CC winner by looking at it this past week.It sure would be nice to have a website to browse. In time, right.

Others in a more short term kinda thing to see what happens are Blackhawk & Kimber.BHK,some have talked about today, the big thing is with no more hedging taking place come next year we should see an increase in share price.Ron Struthers has also recommended this stock as his favorite for 2003.KBR,is a dark horse that is very grassroots in a promising geological belt(Sierra Madre), which in time may prove out to be a winner. There are so many of these early stage explorers its tough to decide which ones to go with.I still need to add to my list of advanced stage plays with resources in the ground and more stable small producers to get better diversified. It will all come in time.

This is starting to get lengthy, will sign off. Thanks again to everyone for the knowledge & wisdom that they pass along these threads.

All the best,

Evan(from Calgary)

My favorite oil and gas play made a new high today and was on the most active list. Ultra Petroleum is the stock. UPL is the symbol. They are steadily increasing reserves from quarter to quarter and I believe the fundamentals to be good, but I love the chart. By the way the best gold chart among the large caps is Royal Gold which made a new high today. I will buy some options when the time is right.
