The defeat of the Soviet Union was no great defeat. They at least kept their thumb on terrorism. Imaginary cold war machinations did not prepare anyone for a real enemy bent on destruction. Our hero Powell had a chance for dollars already spent to take out Iraq leadership and passed on the opportunity.

perhaps w and colin: 1. hope decent muslims will take control of muslim religion and countries 2. are saying the true islam is rational, decent, civilized, peaceful- and the majority of muslims, the leaders, the religious leaders are not true muslims 3. are decitful- and are picking off muslim countries one at a time- on the belief that more americans would be killed if we took on a billion muslims at once without the support of other muslims
