kittypoo,

re:Loss of habitat.

That of course has always been part of the problem, the bigger problem is when the hunting was banned the government could no longer afford to protect the animals from poachers. Without money to protect animals they get neglected and slaughtered. No quotas on the number of tags, no money generated to protect them. No game wardens.

Hunting, especially duck hunting has reversed that problem in the USA. If you do some simple research you will find we now have record numbers of ducks in the North American flyways due to habitat preservation. That preservation came about through the program Bush re-affirmed the other day where private and government monies went to preserve habitat. Without the strong interest and support of hunters those wetlands would have been turned into shopping malls.

It's a simple fact the NRA and hunters want to preserve animals and hunting for future generations - to hunt of course. The cold fact is they have the money to preserve those animals. The government doesn't even have the cash to pay off the debt - you can't expect protection without money.
