What exactly is the difference between "conquering the world" and carrying out "regime change" in unfriendly countries and installing friendly regimes there a la Afghan?

Americans would not support world conquest.

It seems Americans do not mind it all that much as long as it is presented as "They are evil, we are good" et cetera. American public is no less susceptible to marketing than the rest of the world.

But they do support cleaning out the nests of terrorists so that we are more secure at home.

If this is the case, then why are we not taking action against Saudi Arabia, home of 11 of the 15 hijackers and a proven financial supporter of Al Queda?

Could it be that there is more here than meets the eye?
