Standard dissing of trusts in "Lunch Money" by Irwin Michael. Strange how the phrase "return of your own capital" causes so much fear and loathing. If you are a mortgage lender you get "return of your own capital" plus interest, and being a lender to a solvent borrower is otherwise considered an acceptable investment strategy. There are other issues with trusts such as depletion in the case of royalty trusts, but "return of your own capital" shouldn't scare anyone.
