They aren't force fed but given the opportunity to eat a grain and grass mix. Since they don't fly it's not hard to fence a couple of thousand in a 50 acre plot with a shelter in the middle. I bet you didn't know there's a job of being a turkey walker. Domestic turkeys are so dumb when they get hot or come to a fence they just lay down. Turkey walkers pull them out of the fences and herd them to the shelters when it's hot.
