You can get 30 foot waves a great many places some of them only a few miles from people driving by in cars unable to imagine that much water exists so nearby. While you'll find more salt than gold & nowhere near the size, the size & the location shock most people. In fact despit the size less than 1/2 of all Texans even know of it & fewer & seen it.

Lake Meredith National Recreation Area
The lake features over 1,400,000 acre feet of water, with 110 miles of shoreline. Water sports, camping, boating, scuba diving, and fishing are available. Lake Meredith features the finest Walleye fishing in the state. Numerous fishing tournaments, sailing regattas, and other events take place at the lake. The Marina at Lake Meredith features slip rentals, boat rentals, a store, and a heated fishing area. Portions of the area are open for hunting. Area game includes geese, ducks, quail, dove, turkey, pheasant, and deer. Fritch is home to the Lake Meredith Aquatic and Wildlife Museum, while Borger features the Hutchinson County Museum. Visitors to Stinnett can enjoy the Hutchinson County Courthouse, the historic McCormick house, and the Plemons-Stinnett-Phillips school Heritage Center.
