PowerUp founder takes new role at AdvaTech

The founder of PowerUp Networks has taken the job of president at a Richardson supplier of software and services that helps its commercial customers to inexpensively manage their information-technology systems.

Bair came in contact with AdvaTech via its founder and chief executive, Shane Cupps, who was vice president of engineering at PowerUp. Bair says he came aboard partly because AdvaTech is generating revenue and is profitable.

"It looked like it was really promising," he says. "I really enjoy growing companies."

He expects to boost sales by 100% or 200% or more in the next 12 months.

"We have an aggressive growth plan," he says.

The company has five employees, along with 15 to 20 contractors it can call on when the need arises. Bair plans to double or triple the staff over the next year, mostly bringing on certified technical analysts, program and product managers, as well as a few salespeople (though the company is developing outside sales channels that will be its primary conduit for getting products and services in clients' hands).
