Wouldn't it be nice if life was as uncomplicated as your example. Then you could assert your natural rights in all circumstances and everyone would understand.

Unfortunately, the guy who cut the firewood crossed a national boundary to get it, but beforehand he paid off the foreign government so they would let him cut firewood at no charge. Then he wanted to sell it back to the neighbor across the boundary. What are the natural rights here? Whose votes count here?
