No, the replicating cells are not the fetus, they are part of the fetus....all the cells in toto make up the fetus... And in view of this discussion, that is a difference without a distinction. If you as a person were sent off into space without a support system, how long would you be life, ie in your words you need an external supporting mechanism to be life.... The point, once aDANGgin', has nothing to do with carrying around a dang life support system. It has to do with possessing internal mechanisms for DANG REPLICATION! Fetuses have these mechanisms in every cell of their bodies. They are alive. Viruses do not have the mechanisms at all. They are just little bits of parasitic code that plug into real life to replicate the same dang worthless virus. I think I will have to terminate this branch of our discussion, though it is nearly the personification of the differences over which we have here debated. I am the true life that brings new intellectual power, nourishment and creativity to this discussion. You are a virus, hijacking my vigor to replicate the exact same uncompounding and utterly worthless nitwittery you've replicated here since we began this little "talk." Should I cut you off here, as I am about to do, you will be forced to find another host on this issue. I, on the other hand, am able to seek raw materials to fashion new cells of thought that would eventually bind to grow according to my mind's plan into an edifice of thought and creativity. And while I'd be doing all this good developmental stuff, you'd be still just suckin' some other dang fool dry - just replicating the same stupidity over and over again.
