I simply meant the Enola Gay flight eliminated the need for a mainland invasion by ground troops.-with huge losses on both sides Did not want to upset our ground forces, or would also point out that naval/air power destroyed 4 Jap carriers at Midway and decimated their navy.

1000 plane raids over Germany with 110 lost , but crews would go up to fly the next day?. Thats loyalty to a cause. But what impressed me most in that war was the determination of Russians in the stand at Stalingrad for 2 cold winters -outnumbered, out-gunned and supply lines cut.they just would not quit.
