It ain't just Lott's comments here, though Lott should be enough of a politician to know better than to drag up this kinda mess. It is not even that Lott gave speeches before bunches of racists. Alan Keyes did likewise during his last campaign and the results were admirable. It is that Lott approved of and championed Naziesque ideology. That, coupled with his recent comments, makes it very hard to honor the man in any way. So I won't. If he wishes my respect, he is gonna have to clarify his position in some seriously intense way. It can be done and Strom Thurmond proves it.
