Gary, I think it's the same stuff we have been discussing for some time already.

Debt, debt, debt.

Genrally speaking many people feel exactly as the article you pointed out states, People are speaking about cost increases and yet we aren't seeing the figures to confirm inflation. The packaging business is slow so you have less boxes being used for products which means that retail sales are stagnant at best.

The unemployment benefits that were not extended beyond Dec for the unemployed will make the new economic team which appears to be Mr Snow and Friedman look like by the very virtue of their name power they have created an overnight miracle in the economy.

The unemployment drop due to expiration of benefits will appear as significant decrease of those counted as unemployed. If the new applicants for unemployment are vast enough that the rate does not drop into the middle five percent range or lower you can pretty well be sure we are looking at big time problems. Increases in military strength reduce the unemployment rate figures also. Long story short anticipate we are going to see very low unemployment figures because if we don't it is not only short time but possible mini crash time for the DOW.
