OH yes, he does get elected without a substantial black vote. He gets very few black votes.

Well, I must have missed the big deal...Seems even the conservatives are getting as PC sensitive as the liberals around here...

'PC sensitivity' ain't got nothing to do with it. It is a matter of plain human decency and sensitivity to a recent history that was not exactly noble.

if a liberal makes a stupid statement, it is not even newsworthy, but let a conservative make one and Lord we have a Republican dragging a black man behind a pickup all over again according to the media.

I certainly think there is a double standard employed against conservatives in the media. But it ain't about the media as far as I am concerned. I am personally criticizing Lott. The media just put the stuff out there. If it is selective reporting, then that still does not negate the error. And your implying it does is like Marion Barry crying that folks were 'setting him up' because he was black. The fact was, he was still honking on that crack pipe, regardless of folks setting him up.

Isn't Lott from Mississippi, I doubt he could get elected there WITHOUT a substantial African American vote could he?

I doubt your doubt.
