Fred,
Why so negative on Snow? Is it because we already had 8 inches last week? <g> I think the left will be pleasantly surprised by the balanced nature of the new approach by Snow/Friedman team. What about that payroll tax holiday Bush will coopt from the democrats? The real problem for liberals is to get over their preoccupation with a balanced budget. Reagan blew the budget out of the water and we survived and prospered. Last folks preoccupied with balanced budgets were the Burke Hickenlooper Republicans in the 50s. What followed was regime change. Era of clinton balanced budgets was specific to the timeframe involved. Brilliant policy. Now in a somewhat deflationary worldwide situation with recession and or slow growth, other means are called for. Hell some are Keynsian and right out of the Democrat playbook(which they have lost). The democrats should get the republicans to stretch out tax cut while making both supply side and demand side cuts now that have a chance of having an immmediate effect. mike
