That is the $64 billion dollar question.... We have had access to the NHK network in Japan via satellite since 1995, and the slow decay in their society is becoming increasingly more evident. The attendence at the sumo wrestling tournaments for example, has been on the wane for the last three or four years.... In 1996/97, they were mostly sold out and even standing room only, but these days, especially when they hold the tournament in Fukuoka, almost half the seats are empty except on Saturdays and Sundays.... Crimes of violence are also on the upswing as more and more people start to feel hopeless. Where it will all end I do not know, but the old saying is "It's always darkest before dawn"....
