Did you know, Saddam has weapons of "mass production",according to Ari Fleischer? when he IMO lied to the press this morning. He never corrected himself either. Must be his programming. He unresponded to other questions such as ... is this potential war a vendetta against Saddam for being mean to GW's daddy? Is Bush obsessed? Is this a war because of Israel? What proof does Bush have that there are wmds in Iraq (there is one person there who says so, according to Fleischer.) Should vigilantes in the southwest be allowed to remove illegal Mexican aliens since the govt can't do the job. What is Bush doing about the economy? Here's a laugh, Fleischer said it's improving

Yeah? I wonder if Mr. Francis has tallied up the inflation adjusted cost of defending freedom in Western Europe, Japan, and Korea. Compare that to Israel, and it is a small price to pay. Worth every penny, sou, and farthing, imo.

Egypt? Maybe.

SS,

Thanks for that article. I have often wondered about this cost and never had any real idea what it could be.

And then there is the cost of American lives, and the economic fallout of the attacks. I wonder if 9/11 would have still happened if our support for Israel was no different than for any other country in the region/world.

TH

When you compare the strategic value of Israel to the cost imposed upon by US taxpayers, it is what Tom Brokaw would describe as the "fleecing of America."

But hey, knowledge is power and the price tabs has always been kept under a tight lid: a triumph of the American political system and special interest groups.
