"(assuming we could all agree on what "good" was, which we can't - but we can try)."

Well we have been down this path before. People in the world generally agree that sharing and caring is a "good." Bout the time we find our selves doing a magnificent job we find some other peops don't like what we're doing. We never get to the point where sharing and caring for my peops turns out to be good for all the other peops. Sharing and caring to much for the other peops can be labeled "treason" or "neglect of my own peops" or some other nasty thing. On principle the idea to have a world of good is simple and righteous. I prefer to always stand on principle when dealing with issues of good world/bad world. In practice it is complicated and a unique situation for each of us. And since we will never have control over the 6billion plus other peops ideas about how they intend to do their good sharing and caring, I remain the most skeptical.
