As a student of the 29 event i saw how Herbert Hoover was crucified for the depression but he wasn't to blame.
One thing i have learned don't scapegoat individuals.
The greatest cause of this disaster was the mass psychosis that swept our society in the boom boom boom 90s.
Greenspan should have done much more to stop the bubble, but you know what, if he did, the public would have howled to get him thrown out, as the vast majority were having a party and anyone trying stop that party was quickly silenced.
The blame lies with a very major segment of this whole country's population.
I have a rule in my life "never scapegoat".
The REAL CRIMINALS are WS, the mass caterer and generator and promoter of the bubble and all the vilest of the vile like Bernie Ebbers and his ilk.
But the greatest guilt goes to the corporate lobbyist that rammed home the Securities Act of 1995 and that STILL exists. The was the LICENSE to lie cheat and steal without fear of punishment.
The Safe Harbor clause is one the biggest underlying reasons as to why all hell broke loose. Max
