James: You said; All this is adding up to what makes it
look like it's been a strong bear market rally..
a new bull market will have the bell weather
stocks making gains at least fairly close
to the "bargain basement junk"

Whats different is that some of the bell weathers wont be coming back anytime soon, Those without growth stories are in perpetual distribution, while some of the off the radar stocks where CAPEX wasnt wasted in overcapacity areas, will begin to assert themselves. One brush does not the market paint.

The Index groupings will be overhauled big time in the next two years, this is where the opportunity in the present is, determining who is going to be in, and whose on their way out. Clearly the assumptions are that the group must perform together when in fact the entire group via capital rotation, is being shuffled like a new deck of cards.

All this chop is related to those vying or dying from the leadership they want to assert, or failed to hold.
