70-73 was a period of accelerating commodity prices and economic growth before the real recession sfter the oil shock. I think it is had to compare any period now to any historical period in a "cookie-cutter" fashion. Today's US economy and world situation is very different to any other period. Of course there are similarities but each variable in the multivariate puzzle needs to be looked at. Yup the Moomins are a series of books by Tove Jansson - a Swedish speaker from Finland who died recently. They were written in the late 1940s-60s. There is also a TV cartoon series theme park in Finland etc. They are big in Europe and Japan still. Even in Israel where I saw the TV cartoon dubbed in Hebrew. We read them growing up in England in the 1970s and I got reacquainted with them more recently. Even more recently I changed my SI ID to Moominoid :) (It's that on Yahoo and Ozestock). Moomin
