In a score of speeches since last year's Sept. 11 attacks, the president has called for tolerance of Muslims, describing Islam as "a faith based upon peace and love and compassion" and a religion committed to "morality and learning and tolerance."

Bush is doing precisely the right thing. He has to present the most positive perspective he can -- and it is working. I saw interviews of numerous muslims in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and other places yesterday who had just watched the Bush speech on the end of Ramadan. ALMOST EVERYONE WHO WATCHED IT made positive remarks, saying they believed Bush came across as honestly concerned about promoting an understanding of the religion.

I do feel the religion is violent (I agree pretty much with Adelman); but I also think Bush is doing a marvelous job of presenting an inclusive perspective, just as he has done with African Americans and Hispanics.

The QUALITY and CLASS of this president just continues to shine through. He is clearly destined for greatness (pisses you off, doesn't it<g>)...
