Ah, Andrew Sullivan is still at work.

Yep, the New York Times is the best. Period. Stop. End. And the recent controversies only underline that. We all care deeply about the quality of reporting, writing, whatever, at the best; we all, for whatever reasons, think we could/would do it better.

As for Andrew Sullivan, we know his motives.

Now back to the Anderson/Aratov (I hope I've put that right) controversy which is what that insider memo is about. My take. I'm glad the Times is chasing the Augusta Country Club controversy. I happen to subscribe to the notion that women should not be discriminated against in the workplace. And, for some executive work, the golf course is part of the workplace, and access is a symbol of power. Particularly, unfortunately, access to a good ol' Southern boy place like Augusta.

As for the controversy over the Anderson/Aratov's columns. Looks badly handled to me. But I didn't defend the Times on the grounds that it was perfect. Just that it was the best.
