Brilliant? Oh, come on.

I wish I had time to debate this with you; however, I have a project deadline rapidly approaching.

I do think that one man's brilliant is another man's moron.

When you declare 9/11 as Bush's defining moment, you don't do him a disservice. Many of us were sickened by the incompetence of the previous administration, particularly in foreign policy matters, where he sold our sovereignty to highest bidder (China, generally). When the Bush administration handled our little crisis with China with exceptional prowess, it was clear we had an excellent leader and foreign policy team.

Had 9/11 not occurred, who knows what might have happened. But since 9/11 was clearly the most significant event in American history in 60 years, it does seem reasonable that the president is defined by it.

Great leaders are made by their foreign policy, not by their scandals or domestic policy (about which United States presidents have little to do).
