Where is it written that we knew Japan was going to surrender?

It was known by the our leaders that Japan
was ready to surrender

It wasn't even known by the Japanese that they where ready to surrender. When they tried to surrender even after the A-bombs and the Russian invasion of a few small Japanese islands it kicked off a coup attempt. The coup was not successfully but it could have been and it would have had more support it the government tried to surrender before the A-bombs.
