Santa will only offer a sisterly kiss on lips, no frenching and probably cop a cheap feel under any nearby blouse consumer confidence figures indicate a lockstep relationship that has firmed recently, showing that confidence is now more tightly tied to stock gains than jobless trends I expect in time, layoffs will be the bigger story behind consumer confidence the more remarkable sad fact is that consumers actually believe the stock gains will hold we will see in mid-late January the Christmas shopping season still looks like much ado about very little outside discounted sales I will be looking for sales myself because I am a cheap sumbitch who knows blood is on the store floors Santa will see no sales penetration, except maybe rear-ending some reindeer after bumping into stalled traffic / jim
