JFS,

You and Bald Eagle may be correct. It's just that I cannot think of any "scientific theory" tested in the past 100 years, that has been upgraded to a "law".

For instance, there is Newton's law of universal gravitation. Newton's law is no longer considered "universal" but acceptable within limits. Newton's law has been replaced by Einstein's General Theory of Relativity, which is NOW considered as a more standard description of gravitational forces. Yet, Einstein's General Theory hasn't been upgraded to a "law", and Newton's Law hasn't been downgraded to a "theory".
