The FED is not insane

right there we have a fair amount of disagreement...:-)

I don't think that the Fed or anyone else can defy gravity forever.

There are many who believe that we were on the brink of a major disaster WRT to underfunded pensions. Did you happen to notice that both Ford and IBM announced that their issues with underfunded pensions were now quite manageable? Lucky them that the October rally came along. Wonder if they are adding equities to their portfolios right now in anticipation of further rallies.

What I am implying is that a temporary propping of the market can help to avoid a bigger financial catastrophe by distributing the problem amongst a larger group. I have absolutely no proof that this is the case.

Do you have an opinion as to whether Ford and IBM pension fund managers were net buyers or net sellers in the past month?

Can you think of any other occasions when the FRB has stepped in and taken actions that avert these little catastrophes?
