I agree completely with that. I like Carter as a man. I don't agree with him on many issues, but I like him.

There was a special (PBS I think) a couple weeks ago about his life. It was very interesting for me, as I was too young when he was president to really understand much about what he tried to do. I liked, respected actually, that he made up his mind to reinvent his image after the dark cloud over his presidency.

Of course giving him the label of best ex-president is not too strong a compliment. I am not a Democrat, but I will always at least listen to Carter. IMO he is the elder spokesman for both parties.
