I just read a bio of one of my heroes, Teddy Roosevelt. We all know his achievements. What struck me most was how often he lied. All the time! He lied to keep office, he lied to limit his opponents, he lied to advance his domestic policies, and he lied to advance foreign policies.

My point is obvious. What don't we know? I just listened to W thank O'Neal for his accomplishments at keeping this the shortest recession in history, Gimme a break! I have the growing feeling that we have been lied to in getting involved in Iraq.

Lying may simply be necessary to advance objectives.

Of course democrats never lie <vbg>.

In fact, the single biggest lier I ever personally dealt with (in my opinion) was president of the Ethical Cultural Society and head of the NY State ACLU. It seemed he preferred lying to telling the truth. This was many many yrs ago.

Mike-- I'm glad you're taking a hiatus. I know you're chafing at the bit!
