Yep, he had his hours in, more flying was optional. They were also phasing out the plane he was trained on. He was also given an early out which is done, especially when the person has earned their points.

I was in at the same time Algore was in. The Army would let you out up to 3 months early to go to college. Gore got out 17 months early, must have been something to do with daddy being a Senator.
