Ok, I'm going to go real slow for you although I'm not sure that's going to help you budge from your stubborn stance. It's clear from the link I gave you that the Government will cause inflation to avert deflation. They have come right out and stated such. They will do this by printing huge amounts of money, among other things. The result is that prices will go up. That includes prices of equities. Ok, now, what part of Government intervention don't you understand? There is no boogeyman, there is no voodoo, there is no conspiracy. It's actually pretty simple.... for most.

do you believe that a quasi-governmental agency such as the federal reserve has no interest in using whatever tools or levers it has to prop up an economy that is faltering on a fundamental level?

it is indeed a unique structure, is it not?
