I completely agree, but the same could be said for most any organisation with more than a few members. That does not mean that the members are not misguided by the leadership about the plans, goals, and actual campaigns that are instituted in the members name. The NRA literature regularly micharacterises any actual weapon proposals with it's "they're trying to take away all your guns" message. The same hype could be made against a lot of clubs, but the NRA positions have bigger national consequences than the Barbie doll collectors fan club.

I joined the NRA and don't own a gun. My natural rights are important to me. What I did do was to paste the NRA sticker on my front door. If you were a burglar would you take a chance and invade my house or would you go next door to my neighbor who did not mark his house as a gun owner. It may not help but it can't hurt.
