No, Lott's an idiot, but hardly a racist.

So why don't we see the outrageous racists in the House black caucus offering to resign (that would certainly include MOST of them)? Or just the incredibly IGNORANT ones (that wouldn't cut it down by much)? OK, that's impractical-but sending Maxine Waters home would at least be some small gesture toward combating racism in the Congress.

In other words: Start with the REAL culprits, THEN worry about the idiot, Trent Lott.

The answer, of course, is that it's NOT about racism, per say, but the promotion of anti-WHITE racism by black racists, standing "shoulder-toshoulder" with white liberal racists.

Same old story...

Well, I admit, at least from a distance Lott doesnt seem to me to be the sharpest blade in the drawer. But, he also doesnt seem to be any type of racist either.

Perhaps this is true. But I have given Trent the benefit of the doubt already with his other racist foibles. Today I simply have not enough evidence to assume he is not a racist. And so I will not send another dime to support a party that will allow such ambiguity to exist in its leadership on this issue. This is why, as far as I am concerned, whether the Democrats are racists is quite irrelevant. I wish to see an America wherein all Americans have an equal shot at seeking happiness, and wherein should a white person wish to have dinner with a black, no one blinks an eye. I think we have that America today, certainly very nearly and increasingly. Lott represents Republican leadership that espouses views contrary to that America. I can therefore no longer support the party he leads.
