It is voluntary segregation- so perhaps I disagree with you a little in terminology. But if we are not free to segregate ourselves then we have lost our right to free association (which you can argue is gone anyway, but I don't think so). I think the argument about whether it is wise or not is another matter- and is not a legal argument. So I totally agree with you that the question of the wisdom of such segregation is another matter. The law allows us to be unwise in many things. Part of freedom is the freedom to be unwise.

Come on.
This is like the International Pavillion at the World's Fair. The ethnicity is what defines this country. We want to enjoy it and share it. Do you think that these kids aren't visiting each other's "HOUSES"? I wonder if this isn't a more conducive way to learn and mingle. It's not hierarchical.
