Hello Yiwu, I am in ShiJiaZhuang, provincial capital of Hebei, where Beijing is located. The city is fairly backward city compared to its peers, but has improved at its own and very slow pace.

An observation: this is the first time ever that I have seen so many Christmas decors and trimmings on the streets, in shopping malls, and everywhere else in Mainland Chinese cities.

A guess from rumors, the powers that be may be thinking that main line religions are preferable to voodoo cults.

I had been to Shenzhen, Shanghai, Nanjing, Beijing, Tianjin and now ShiJiaZhuan on different errands since December 2nd. I return to Beijing tonight and Hong Kong tomorrow, shutting down work until January 2nd.

Chugs, Jay

The availability of an work force is making a difference.

To get to one-PC-per-room the US or Europe would have to import 20.000 PC-literate persons. This is not possible. Mean while the gate-crashers are closing in.
