<I know, this really doesn't mean anything in terms of sales. But the mkt is reacting to things like this and I see futures are up. >>

Especially if you take it in the context of the rest of the article. biz.yahoo.com

Specifically towards the end.
One has to wonder if they write such articles with desperate bulls in mind who only read the first paragraph, if they even get past the headline!

From the article you posted.

While sales of chips for DVD players and video games continued to be fairly strong during the latest two-year downturn, sales were down for networking equipment chips, according to Corrigan.

"Consumers have done their part. I think companies will start spending again once they've got confidence. That will happen after Iraq," he said. "By 2004 we'll see significant improvement in the communications sector."

And what happens when the consumer pulls back his pocket book, and if there is no corporate confidece yet.

"There's no visibility. Customers are ordering hand to mouth. Until we get the Iraq thing settled, everyone is so nervous; everyone is hanging onto their cash," he said. "Everyone is waiting for the macro environment to change."

He predicted a U.S. war with Iraq would be "short, quick, successful, and then we're into an era of uncertainty."

Well, that makes me want to go out and freaking buy his stock tomorrow on the hopes of the day after.

Wow! Ironically, I really wouldn't be surprised to see further gains from garbage like that.

P.S> DId I mention the last part of his comments sounded like a prayer?

I don't know much about Corrigan as a CEO, but I do know this is the third time that I can remember over the last 30 months that he has made this type of comment...except this time, it seems, he is "sure of it".

I'm surprised more wasn't made out of Grove's comments from last night.

Futures were up last night because they were oversold against the cash market into the afternoon close, nothing more...
