This thing has another Vietnam written all over it.

Can you clarify what you mean by that statement?

America has not been engaged in a war for preservation of our way of life for decades.

You must be nuts. The Gulf War wasn't for "preservation of our way of life"? If there is any agreement at all, conservatives and liberals alike agree that oil was an important motivator for us to intervene between Kuwait and Iraq. There is little doubt that we would have (nor should we have) gotten involved in Kuwait had we not had the interest of maintaining our "way of life".

This thing has another Vietnam written all over it.

Either you don't the history of the Vietnam war or you haven't paid attention for the last 10 years; not sure which.
