What you are describing is PTSD.

And it's not an excuse for violence on anyone's part, but a disorder that is more prevalent than most people know and that can be managed and treated.

I agree completely... I was waiting for someone to mention the other victim, the store owner. And the fact that the gun was a toy will make it worse from a guilt perspective.
