That's to be expected. Of course they're going to be more belligerent in response

People (governments, whatever) who are getting what they want tend to be less belligerent than those who are being hassled.

You want to cut a deal with someone? The first thing you do is to quit doing stuff that makes their life easy.

Negotiating 101. And every liberal I know of flunked the course.

Tenchusatsu,

re:The world is more liberal than America. Does that make them right?

The world is also weaker than America - both politically and militarily.

Of course that makes our mistakes so much more grand.

That's to be expected. Of course they're going to be more belligerent in response. Anything less would weaken their hold on power.

The truth is that they're scared stiff.

You may be right but it sure doesn't look that way on the surface. No one was bothering N. Korea so why hassle with the US. Bush's focuse is on Iraq.

<You might read the foreign press to get a different opinion of how the world is viewing the US.>

I do. So what? The world is more liberal than America. Does that make them right?

What you consider to be more liberal is really mainstream. However, I am not sure what that has to do with anything. The world doesn't think so definitely in the terms, conservative vs liberal like this thread does.

In any case, the world generally does not see Bush as the masterful leader you all do. Since I tend to agree, their observation concerns me.......and it should you. No leader should have our carte blanche support.
