Ashcroft will do some good, and the country will owe much to him for that and many other things. But the reality remains that stealing elections through fraud is a crime that is not generally prosecuted, unless the offended nation turns to totalitarianism (the slimy election stealers ARE always on the first bus to the shiny new Gulags).

The Founders understood this, and built a system where intelligent, diligent citizens would have, at least, the best possible chance to defend-in the longer run-their republic from the McAuliffes, Carvilles, Belagas, and Gores. 2002 showed that-even though the criminals still stole two in the Senate-the tide can still be turned against them.
