UAL is not "quite borrowable" at most US brokers; it's not marginable. And the puts don't represent a decent bet given the likely timeframe for a retrace to the 50-cent range.

We can't short all the sub-$5 crap like you folks up north.

I have shorted UAL on Thursday and Friday without problems at a widely used US online broker.

Yes you may be right, it will settle at a low price once the hype based on "selling restrictions by the court", esop not letting down the company etc. dies down.

The chart took some serious damage towards the end of trading friday, perhaps we have seen the high at $2.09
