Big dog,
FWIW i lost $241k in two months when i turned on the margin this summer/fall. Something i promised i would never do again after losing even more back in 1999 on margin, shorting the likes of AMZN.

I capitulated and took a step back to analyxe my strenghts and weaknessses. Daytrading was not my strength. i seemed to be pretty respectable at forecasting indexes and highs and lows so i subsequently swtiched to trading spx index options in trading accounts and mutual funds in my ira's and 401k's. Over the last two months i am up approx 180% in trading account and 20% in IRA and 5% in 401k. IRA is used to play RYDEX funds long and short. mostly short as i hate being long. 401ks are only invested to play Europe or asia when we are strong and i feel they should play catch up for a day or two. That said i did invest the 401k's in ndx as of close as i felt the risk reward was right.

yes there is a lot of noise on this thread. but for the most part we all get along and have a common goal of getting better at this racket and try to help each other learn. There are many talented posters on this thread. We have our founder Jeff. He is the closest we have to an expert. He has shown us some awesome TA that isn't in books. Sometimes he vents his frustrations that his flock isn't remembering what he has taught but that is his right. Its his farking thread and if we dont like it we dont have to be here.

PS I hope to have made the losses back over the next year.

so what is your record since you are asking very personal questions of others.
j
