The Boston Globe Saturday,December14,2002 Section G page G1 A 30% vacancy rate? Up to 30%of Boston`s downtown office space is vacant, according to a report from CRESA Partners LLC,a Boston real estate firm. It estimates that 10 to 15% of the city`s office space is empty-but not on the market. The firm contends this "shadow space is in addition to the 15% of the city`s office space that`s officially available for rent. "We anticipate a further downsizing in most companies, resulting in a double whammy jolt to real estate throughtout the area" said Joe Sciolla,managing director of CRESA. He said numbers are based on discussions with corporate executives.(AP)
