In 1987, I was a futures broker at Merrill Lynch, my partner and I were the biggest producers in the southeast region of the country... on October 19th, we were short and couldn't believe the windfall... an unhappy customer in another office walked in and shot the Vice President and his broker before killing himself... he was short puts, not a good position in a market crash... near the end of the day, I was buying up everything in sight for my own portfolio, all stocks were 1/3 off, a regular fire sale... my partner and I packed concealed firearms for about a week just in case one of our unhappy clients came visiting us... and this was before these markets became volatile...<g>
