We are managing this business for the long-term.

IMO Coca-Cola is going to start a trend that other major companies will begin to follow. Looking at the long term prospects for a specific business makes sense to me, since it doesn't seem possible to micromanage the daily, weekly and monthly ups and downs of a business and to try to give frequent forecasts.

It seems that we've become a society that loves to blame and find fault with almost everything that is stated or not stated by corporate officers. IMO that fact takes away the motivation to try to forecast future earnings for the shareholder's benefit.

I can understand why some private companies choose to remain private companies.

If this trend continues, the gig'll be up for some analysts. Some will actually have to do something other than regurgitate management's guidance.
