Have you noticed the material difference between Blacks who speak for the conservative and those who speak for the left? The former--Sowell, Thomas and a growing number of others--are driven by deeply held beliefs, and the latter--the Sharptons, the Jacksons, and their like--are self-aggrandizing narcissists concerned only with making themselves look good and making their followers believe that it is the demon-white and the demon-right who are responsible for oppression, and not themselves.

"I too grew up in the South, had a black "Mama", she lived with us, ate with us, slept in our home, was part of the family. Bigotry existed in the NORTH not the South." You still called them niggers, and would kick the shit out of black person if he/she sat on the wrong end of the bus or didn't give up a seat to a white person.

From Slate:

Trent Lott's troubles get their biggest play so far, with the NYT
and WP each giving the issue two frontpage articles: President
Bush decided to rebuke Lott's comments supporting Strom
Thurmond's 1948 segregationist presidential run. "Recent
comments by Senator Lott do not reflect the spirit of our
country," said Bush. "He has apologized, and rightly so." Bush
did not call for Lott to resign. The Post's second Lott piece
headlines, "LOTT HAS MOVED LITTLE ON CIVIL RIGHTS ISSUES." But
it's the subhead that really sends a message: "Senator's Record
Consistent With Remarks."
