The truth, is that the Bushs' appointments of African Americans have been notable in that these individuals are strong, intelligent, and independent. They allowed to express their beliefs, and actually are used to advise the President - and they are allowed to disagree. Despite what Belafonte might say, these people are not "yes" men (or women)...or even "bag men".

And with this Bush has changed history. Little black boys no longer have to imagine how an independent, sharp, totally American black man might look. They see him every single day. Little black girls don't hafta wonder how a sharp, totally American black woman might look. She is right there.

I reject Powell's views on a lotta stuff - in fact it seems on most things. But the guy is definitely a heavy hitter and I can't help but respect him even if he is wrong on every dang thing he talks about.

Belafonte is a dang idiot who ain' done crap but sing a dang song - one dang song - a thousand dang times. Okay, he fathered a swell-lookin' kid too, but that's it.

Since we're talking about Clarence Thomas, he'd probably preferred the blow job scenario. He had a little sexual thing going on as I recall from his confirmation hearings.
