Amazing what a "hot potato" race is --- and how hypocritical. I simply couldn't get over how upset Bush became at Lott's statement which, as I understood it, was factual and "par for the course" 50 years ago. As a rider, many Americans stood on Germany's side at the beginning of WW2 and didn't want the US to enter the war --- does that mean they are Nazis?! Fifty years ago, segregation was considered a respectable policy, even if, as we know, it was later put into disrepute.

I can tell you that this race thing, and the Political Correctness that goes with it, makes me puke. It's just amazing how one has to keep patronizing blacks all the time and saying how much one loves them and what great guys they are etc --- meanwhile agreeing that we colonized them, robbed them, enslaved them etc and therefore have to keep them in the style to which they have become accustomed without them having to do any work.

>Anyone with a brain can see that SA was improving under the old regime

Yes, that is true but the Nationalists were too greedy and too stupid to see the big picture which included the real political aspirations of the Africans. They believed incorrectly that a few black puppets would suffice those political desires. Notwithstanding anything the SA gov did, however, the US and British liberals had decided that SA was to become an African country and that was that.

Bush is coming out here on Jan 12th. Why, I can't imagine but it seems, in order to convince the blacks in America that the US President is not a racist and, therefore, that they should vote for him or, more to the point, go to war for him he has to appear here from time to time to kiss Mandela's hand and have some photos taken with the ANC bunch, like Clinton did. He'll probably have a surprise however, like Colin Powell did, because the place is teeming with radical Muslims who will probably organize mass demonstrations including burning the US and Israeli flags and effigies of Sharon and himself.
