this trend should frighten some SW companies.

Software companies have been peeing in their pants from fright for 2+ years now... and its not just open source!

The only real good news about enterprise software companies is that b2b was the last bastion of the bubble... tons of software companies generated huge amts of cash during that phase... not as much as telecom, sure but a lot. So now there are software companies galore trading for cash.

The one vertical besides gov which is strong for software now is retail, especially the pricing area which is using the algorithms from the airline industry to move as much stalled inventory as possible.
